Best Skin Specialist in Malaysia?

As a medical doctor, I am not aware of any skin specialist or a dermatologist who can claim that he or she is the ‘best' skin specialist in town currently. There is no established clinical performance metrics to measure the competence of a particular skin specialist at the moment in Malaysia. Even if there is such a performance measurement system; the performance of a particular medical professional does vary from patient to patient as well as from time to time. Further, skin diseases are complex with various root causes and it's also different from one person to another. Therefore, the need for an already qualified medical doctor to take up further training and specialize in the field of skin-care management to become a dermatologist.

If you have a skin related problem and you are looking for the right doctor to consult, then please read on. I would suggest that you visit a nearby general practitioner (GP - private) or a medical officer (government) first before you see a skin specialist or a dermatologist. If the skin problem is mild and simple, your general practitioner (in a GP clinic) would be able to manage it. If the condition gets worse, then you may wish to request your GP to refer you to one of the skin specialist clinics in Kuala Lumpur.
